Are you working in it or on it?

There's a trap most ministry leaders fall into — and almost nobody talks about it.
You're so busy doing ministry that you never work on your ministry.
You're counseling, preaching, managing staff, putting out fires, and showing up for people. And all of that is good and necessary. But somewhere along the way, the urgent crowded out the important. The week runs you instead of you running the week.
The business world borrowed this idea from Peter Drucker — the difference between working in your organization and working on it. Leaders who only work in it eventually hit a ceiling. The ministry grows to the lid of their capacity and stops there.
So here's a simple challenge for this week:
Block one hour for strategy, not service.
Close the door. Put it on the calendar. Treat it like an appointment you can't cancel. Use that hour to ask: Where are we headed? What's not working? What would make the biggest difference in the next 90 days?
One hour won't fix everything. But it's the kind of investment that compounds over time.
The ministry you lead is worth that hour.
